This year marks the 70th anniversary of the release of Ludwig Bemelmans' beloved children's story, Madeline. Kids Preferred, a leading plush manufacturer is celebrating this milestone anniversary with plush Madeline characters and, of course, plush Genevieve characters (Madeline's trusty pooch) too!

Kids Preferred has two different lines of Madeline plush, one line available exclusively at Toys R Us, and the other line is available at local "mom & pop" toy stores.

As any little girl can recite from the pages of Ludwig Bemelmans’ classic tale, Miss Clavel oversees the education of 12 little girls, the smallest of whom is the mischievous Madeline.

I was eager to give the 70th Anniversary Madeline ($30) since I know one little girl who adores Madeline, and what a wonderful way to put a smile on someone's face!

To learn that Madeline has been around this long is truly remarkable! Growing up, I heard of Madeline, but I never read any of the books. I didn't realize until now what I was missing! If you're new to Madeline, I highly suggest reading the 1939 original story ($7.99 - $17.99). Madeline and the Cats in Rome is also available for $17.99.

The 70th Anniversary Madeline would make a wonderful gift for any Madeline fan. It is also a good collector's plush toy that can be treasured for years to come! Madeline is packaged in a see through bag with a pink rope handle. She is adorably dressed in a delft blue dress featuring famous Parisian locales from the original book. Her beautiful, vibrant red hair is tied on one side with a satiny blue bow. It is hard to believe that such a sweet face is capable of so much mischief!
