Stoves for the Holidays

Jody Landers is a mom to six kids, and co-founder of a new nonprofit helping women in developing countries. She recently launched a holiday campaign for Haiti, which you can you learn more about here

Last year, she was shocked to learn that respiratory illness - largely from toxic, indoor smoke - is the largest killer of children in developing countries. It's usually caused by breathing in smoke while their mother cooks over an open fire. However, there's an easy solution. A stove. Just $20 gets a family a new stove. They are made in Port au Prince and sold by female vendors, creating jobs and helping the economy.

They made a short video. Their goal is to get stoves to 10,000 women this holiday. As moms, I think a stove is the perfect present for our holiday wish list. It's also an easy way to help another woman around the world.
